Words surrounded in square brackets (e.g. [Enter]) denote keys on the keyboard. ─┤Menu screens (like the title or the right-click menus)├── Left click/[Enter]/[Space] Confirm Right click/[Escape]/[BackSpace]/[Delete]/[Home] Go back one level (if you are already at the base level, you will be asked whether you want to end the game) [Tab]/[→]/[↓] Move to next button [Shift]+[Tab]/[←]/[↑] Move to previous button Mouse wheel If there exists a scrollbar, scroll up and down. Otherwise no function. ─┤In-game ├───────────────────────── Left click/[Enter]/[Space] (During the click wait state) Proceed to next point (During decision point) Select your choice (During autoplay mode) Exit autoplay mode ※ If you continue to hold down the left mouse button, that is the same as clicking repeatedly. Explanations for the various parts of the config menu follow. ─┤Text├─────────────────────────── New text display interval By pulling the slider left and right, you can control the speed of new text display. The left hand side denotes faster display, and the right hand side denotes slower display. The numerical gauge displays the interval in milliseconds. ○ Display entire screen instantly If you turn this option on, unread text will be rendered an entire screen at a time. Old text display interval This area functions exactly the same as the new text display interval, just for old (already-read) text. Automatic progression delay Changes the time-to-next-page interval for autoplay mode. The left hand side denotes a smaller (faster) interval. Conversely, the right hand side denotes a larger interval at which you can read at your leisure. The numerical gauge displays the interval in milliseconds. ─┤Text skip ├──────────────────────── Skip if already read (※ not functional in Trial Edition) If you turn this option on, the game will skip over all text that is already read, stopping only for decision points and unread text. This makes it possible to advance very quickly through the game. Prompt for skip (※ not functional in Trial Edition) If you turn this option on, whenever you enter a scene that you have already read, the game will ask you whether you wish to enter skip mode. This is useful when you want to watch a specific scene over again without skipping it. Of course, if the "Skip if already read" option is not turned on, then this option does not function either. Hotkey to enter skip mode Select the key that, when you hold it down, allows you to enter skip mode. Since this will allow you to enter skip mode EVEN IN SCENES YOU HAVE NOT YET READ, please be careful. The default hotkey is [Ctrl]. ─┤Sound ├────────────────────────── Main volume Controls the overall volume. Left is softer, right is louder. Background music volume Controls the background music volume. Operates the same way as the main volume control does. Effects volume The slider controls the sound effects volume in much the same was as the main or background music volume control. If you hit the "Test" button, a random sound effect will be played; please use this to adjust the volume to your liking. ─┤Others├────────────────────────── Abbreviated effects If you turn this option on, all effects will be rendered immediately. However, dynamic effects such as vibrations or jolts will play back normally. Hide text during scene transitions Each character in this game has a wide variety of facial expressions. By default, whenever a character's expression changes, the text layer is hidden. If you want to concentrate on the text and turn this option off, the text layer will not be hidden during simple facial expression changes. Render effects (※ not functional in Trial Edition) There are some scenes in the commercial version of this game that make extreme use of effects. Whenever one of those scenes happens, it is possible that your computer will render the effects very slowly. If that is the case, you may turn special effects off using this option. Font settings You may change the font used to render text in the game here. The default font is MS PGothic, non-bold, but please choose a different font if you prefer. Since there are some fonts that do not render the game well at all, if you are worried about this, then please do not change the font from the default. The "Bold" and "Bold Hints" checkboxes will allow you to turn the main text font and the hint text font bold, respectively. The font list will become bolded if you turn on the main text font Bold option, but nothing will appear to change when you enable the Bold Hints option. However, the hint font will become bold in-game. (Once you are finished adjusting your font settings, press OK to go back to the config menu) Mouse right-click setup Sets up the behavior of the right mouse button. By default, if you right click once the in-game menu is opened (the "A" setup). However, if you choose the "B" setup, if you right click once the text layer is hidden and if you right click a second time the in-game menu is opened. Please choose whichever one suits you best. ※ Config menu notes Until you press the "OK" button, the changes you make in the config menu will not go into effect. Please be careful about this. ┌──┬───────────────────────────┐ │ 9│Save/load menu explanations │ └──┴───────────────────────────┘ In this section, we explain how to use the save/load menus. ─┤Common information├──────────────────── There are 20 save slots per page and 15 pages, for a total of 300 save slots (so long as you have the hard drive space). Save data are moveable to any slot and any page. In order to move save data to another slot on the same page, simply hold down your left mouse button and drag the save data to the desired position. In order to move save data to another slot on a different page, first drag the save data off the current page completely, switch pages, and then drop the data into the desired slot. All save data created within this software are stored in the "fatetrial_savedata" folder created within your "My Documents" folder. ─┤About the save data ├─────────────────── Save data stores the following information: The point in the game when the save was initiated A screenshot of the above point The title corresponding to above point The date and time at which the game was saved User comments for the save data Write protect attribute Since the comment and the write protect attribute can be assigned to any save data, please use them to organize your save data. ─┤Save├─────────────────────────── You may open the save menu by either selecting the appropriate option in the in-game menu or by hitting the appropriate shortcut key. The screen will turn into a 5x4 grid of save data. If you click on a save data slot, a detail dialog will pop up. If you push the "Save" button on this dialog, you will create a save at your current position in the game. You may also type in user comments and set the write protect attribute if you wish at this time. If you press the "Delete" button, you will delete the save data in the current slot. This is useful when you need to clear up space for other saves. If you press the "Cancel" button, this closes down the detail dialog. ─┤Load├─────────────────────────── The load interface is almost exactly identical to the save interface, with "load" substituted in for "save". You may also set user comments and the write protect attribute here in the same manner that you would in the save interface. ┌──┬───────────────────────────┐ │10│In-game menu explanation │ └──┴───────────────────────────┘ The in-game menu appears when you right-click or you press the Esc key during normal gameplay. An explanation of the various options on this menu follows. Save Go to the save dialog. Load Go to the load dialog. Auto Read Start autoplay mode. Go To Next Skip to next unread text / decision point Return Top Return to the title menu. History Display the log. Graphic Hide the menu screen as well as the text, and display the background image only. Config Go to the configuration menu. Exit Game Exits the game completely. Exit Menu Exit this menu and go back to the game. ┌──┬───────────────────────────┐ │11│Known issues │ └──┴───────────────────────────┘ ・When attempting to play this game on a dual-monitor setup in certain configurations, a tooltip which says "The parameters are incorrect" may pop up. If such a thing happens, please switch to primary monitor-only mode before you play. ・When you have called up a menu screen using a shortcut key, until you have come back out of that menu screen, you cannot advance the scenario by clicking on the mouse (nor can you review your log by scrolling up on the mousewheel). ・When you open the Save or Load dialogs, and when you click on the "Save" or "Load" buttons, the mouse's position will relocate to the lower right of the window. ┌──┬───────────────────────────┐ │12│About copyright issues │ └──┴───────────────────────────┘ The copyright to this software belongs entirely to TYPE-MOON.
